Safety

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags helps prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The GV60 doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

Both the Blazer EV and the GV60 have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, front and rear seatbelt pretensioners, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, rearview cameras, rear cross-path warning, available around view monitors and driver alert monitors.

Warranty

There are over 9 times as many Chevrolet dealers as there are Genesis dealers, which makes it much easier should you ever need service under the Blazer EV’s warranty.

Tires and Wheels

For better traction, the Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the GV60 (275/45R21 vs. 255/45R20).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Genesis GV60 only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

The Blazer EV has a standard easy tire fill system. When inflating the tires, the vehicle’s integrated tire pressure sensors keep track of the pressure as the tires fill and tell the driver when the tires are inflated to the proper pressure. The GV60 doesn’t offer vehicle monitored tire inflation.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The GV60 doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

Suspension and Handling

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 7.6 inches longer than on the GV60 (121.8 inches vs. 114.2 inches).

For better handling and stability, the track (width between the wheels) on the Blazer EV is 1.8 inches wider in the front and 1.5 inches wider in the rear than on the GV60.

Passenger Space

The Blazer EV has 1.9 inches more front headroom, 1.9 inches more front legroom, 1.2 inches more front shoulder room, 1.3 inches more rear legroom and 2.4 inches more rear shoulder room than the GV60.

Cargo Capacity

The Blazer EV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat up than the GV60 with its rear seat up (25.5 vs. 24 cubic feet). The Blazer EV has a much larger cargo volume with its rear seat folded than the GV60 with its rear seat folded (59.1 vs. 54.7 cubic feet).

Towing

Maximum trailer towing in the Genesis GV60 is limited to 2000 pounds. The Blazer EV RS 4x4 offers up to a 3500 lbs. towing capacity.

Standard Trailer Sway Control on the Blazer EV uses the StabiliTrak® sensors to detect trailer sway, then uses individual brakes to counteract any swaying and help keep the tow vehicle and trailer steady. The GV60 doesn’t offer electronic trailer sway control.

Ergonomics

To improve rear visibility by keeping the rear window clear, the Blazer EV has a standard rear wiper. The GV60 doesn’t offer a rear wiper.

Recommendations

Motor Trend selected the Blazer EV as their 2024 Sport Utility of the Year. The GV60 has never been chosen.

The Chevrolet Blazer outsold the Genesis GV60 by over 19 to one during 2023.
