Compare the2026 Chevrolet Blazer EVVS 2026 Jeep Recon

The Chevrolet Blazer EV has standard driver and front passenger side knee airbags mounted low on the dashboard. These airbags help prevent the driver and front passenger from sliding under their seatbelts or the main frontal airbags; this keeps them better positioned during a collision for maximum protection. Knee airbags also help keep the legs from striking the dashboard, preventing knee and leg injuries in the case of a serious frontal collision. The Recon doesn’t offer a front passenger side knee airbag.

In a Vehicle-to-Vehicle Frontal Crash Prevention 2.0 test conducted by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), the Chevrolet Blazer EV achieved a “Good” rating - the highest possible - for its performance in forward collision warning and automatic braking systems, demonstrating its excellent capabilities in preventing collisions. The Jeep Recon has not been tested.

Both the Blazer EV and Recon have rear cross-traffic warning, but the Blazer EV has Rear Cross Traffic Braking (automatically applies the brakes) to better prevent a collision when backing near traffic. The Recon’s Rear Cross Path Detection doesn’t automatically brake.

Both the Blazer EV and the Recon have standard driver and passenger frontal airbags, front side-impact airbags, driver knee airbags, side-impact head airbags, height adjustable front shoulder belts, four-wheel antilock brakes, traction control, electronic stability systems to prevent skidding, crash mitigating brakes, daytime running lights, lane departure warning systems, blind spot warning systems, around view monitors, rear cross-path warning, available front parking sensors and driver alert monitors.

The Blazer EV’s corrosion warranty is 1 year longer than the Recon’s (6 vs. 5 years).

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 Initial Quality Study of new car owners surveyed provide the statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are better in initial quality than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in initial quality. With 8 more problems per 100 vehicles, Jeep is rated lower.

J.D. Power and Associates’ 2025 survey of the owners of three-year-old vehicles provides the long-term dependability statistics that show that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. J.D. Power ranks Chevrolet above average in long-term dependability. With 33 more problems per 100 vehicles in the first three years of ownership, Jeep is rated below average.

From surveys of all its subscribers, Consumer Reports’ March 2025 Auto Issue reports that Chevrolet vehicles are more reliable than Jeep vehicles. Consumer Reports ranks Chevrolet 3 places higher in reliability than Jeep.

The Blazer EV SS’ optional electric motors produces 30 lbs.-ft. more torque (650 vs. 620) than the Recon’s electric motors.

For better traction, the Blazer EV RS’ tires are larger than the largest tires available on the Recon (275/45R21 vs. 265/70R18).

The Blazer EV LT’s standard tires provide better handling because they have a lower 60 series profile (height to width ratio) that provides a stiffer sidewall than the Recon’s standard 70 series tires. The Blazer EV’s optional tires have a lower 40 series profile than the Recon’s 70 series tires.

For better ride, handling and brake cooling the Blazer EV LT has standard 19-inch wheels. Only 18-inch wheels are available on the Recon. The Blazer EV offers optional 22-inch wheels.

The Chevrolet Blazer EV’s wheels have 6 lugs for longer wheel bearing life, less chance of rotor warping and greater strength. The Jeep Recon only has 5 wheel lugs per wheel.

Having a flat tire is dangerous, inconvenient and expensive. The self-sealing tires available on the Blazer EV can automatically seal most punctures up to 3/16 of an inch, effectively preventing most flat tires. The Recon doesn’t offer self-sealing tires.

For a smoother ride and more stable handling, the Blazer EV’s wheelbase is 8.9 inches longer than on the Recon (121.8 inches vs. 112.9 inches).

For better maneuverability, the Blazer EV’s turning circle is .8 feet tighter than the Recon’s (39.7 feet vs. 40.5 feet).

The Chevrolet Blazer EV may be more efficient, handle and accelerate better because it weighs about 400 to 1100 pounds less than the Jeep Recon.

A low lift-over cargo hatch design makes loading and unloading the Blazer EV easier. The Blazer EV’s cargo hatch lift-over height is 29.8 inches, while the Recon’s liftover is 35.1 inches.

The Blazer EV’s liftgate lifts up in one piece, completely out of the way of loading and unloading, while sheltering the cargo loading area. The Recon’s swing out door blocks loading from the driver’s side.

To make loading groceries and cargo easier when your hands are full, the Blazer EV’s liftgate can be opened just by waiting momentarily behind the back bumper, leaving your hands completely free. The Recon doesn’t offer a hands-free gesture to open its cargo door, forcing you to put cargo down if your hands are full.

The Blazer EV (except LT) offers an available heads-up display that projects speed, navigation instruction and driver assistance information readouts in front of the driver’s line of sight, allowing drivers to view information without diverting their eyes from the road. The Recon doesn’t offer a heads-up display.

The Blazer EV’s optional rear and side view mirrors have an automatic dimming feature. These mirrors can be set to automatically darken quickly when headlights shine on them, keeping following vehicles from blinding or distracting the driver. The Recon has an automatic rear view mirror, but its side mirrors don’t dim.

Both the Chevrolet Blazer EV and Jeep Recon offer exterior mirrors that can be folded to provide convenience. The Blazer EV offers optional power folding mirrors, which allow for easy, one-touch folding or unfolding at the driver’s discretion. This provides added convenience when maneuvering or parking, as well as when walking past the parked vehicle. In comparison, the Recon’s foldable mirrors are manual, requiring the driver to get out and physically fold them once parked and unfold them before getting in.

The Blazer EV is available in both front-wheel drive and four-wheel drive configurations. The Recon doesn’t offer a two-wheel drive configuration.
